We take your safety very seriously and follow recomended guildlines for keeping you safe during this pandemic.
We are a handgun safety school as certified by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. During eight hours of classroom and range instruction, we will cover all of the material required to prepare you for the written examination and shooting qualification.
Who can take this class?
Due to the nature of the content and amount of material covered, this is NOT a beginner’s course. You should already be familiar with the fundamentals of shooting handguns. If you have never fired a handgun or are uncertain of your skills, *contact* us to discuss options to prepare you for this class.
Any student under the age of 18-years-old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Also, as per Federal law, all participants must be U.S. Persons as defined by 15 CFR § 772.1 and 22 CFR § 120.15.

- Requirements for self defense and use of deadly force in Tennessee
- Legal liabilities of carry, possessing, and using a handgun
What do I need to bring?
- Completed HCP application and application number.
- Handgun in a safe, working condition. Any caliber from .22 to .45ACP permitted. (See Notes 1 & 2 below)
- Fifty (50) rounds of factory ammunition for your handgun. (No reloads or handloaded ammunition)
- Soft or hard case for transporting your handgun
- Valid TN ID
- Hearing and eye protection (See Note 3 below)
- Comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather (We shoot rain or shine)
- Close-toed shoes (no sandals, flipflops, heels, etc)
- Sun screen and bug spray
- A safe attitude and a willingness to learn
- Suggested: Hat, We *highly* suggest no open or ‘V’ neck shirts
What is included in my fee?
- Eight hours of instruction
- Range fee
- Target
- Certificate of training
- Use of hearing & eye protection if you don’t already have it
Follow *all* instructions from the instructor and/or range safety officer. Failure to follow instructions, misconduct, or grossly unsafe behavior can lead to dismissal from the class without refund.
Safety Note: No firearms or ammunition permitted in the classroom. Keep them secured in your vehicle until instructed to retrieve them for the range. We operate a Cold Range, which means firearms are always unloaded except when at the firing line. Keep your unloaded firearm inside the carrying case and unloaded except when on the firing line.
Seats are limited and are first-come-first-served basis.
Note 1: If you do not have a handgun, PLEASE do not buy one just for the course. We will cover information that may help you make a better selection. We also have handguns available for rent for a fee. Rental includes the use of a .22 caliber pistol and ammunition for the class.
Note 2: The instructor and/or range safety officer will inspect your handgun and ammunition to determine safety/functionality. Any handgun deemed unsafe will not be allowed. All decisions are final. If it is determined you have brought an unsafe handgun, you will be given the option to either rent one of ours or retake the course in its entirety at a later date at no extra charge. Rescheduling the course is subject to course schedule and seating availability.
Note 3: If you do not have hearing or eye protection, we have some rentals available for an additional fee.
